"Thou shalt not be a victim, thou shalt not be a perpetrator, above all, thou shalt not be a bystander."
It is our job as members of the human race to not stand by while other human beings are slaughtered. The latest tragedy of this sort is occurring in Darfur, Sudan right now. Genocide has far-reaching consequences that go well beyond the victims who are killed. Over 400,000 people have already been killed in the violence, an estimated 3.5 million are hungry, and 2.5 people displaced.
One of the most important things we can do to end such travesties, is to educate ourselves and others about genocide and what is currently happening in Darfur.
At our first meeting, we will get to know each other, have a brief discussion on the background of what is going on in Darfur, and then discuss goals for our group. Whether you know a lot about the genocide, or just a little, you are welcome to come. This group has no political or religious affiliation. If you are a human being who is concerned for the well-being of other humans, you are welcome to join us.
