"Thou shalt not be a victim, thous shalt not be a perpetrator, but above all, thou shalt not be a bystander." -Holocaust Museum, Washington D.C.

Over half a million people have already died in Darfur. 10,000 people are dying every month, as the genocide rages on. Systematic rape, torture, poisoning of water sources, and destruction of livestock and crops are common practice. It is estimated that 80-90% of African villages in Darfur have already been destroyed, and that 2.5 million people are displaced. Violence and instability are spreading into Chad and Uganda. Join us to help stop genocide. We are currently working on fundraising dinners, a divestment campaign, uniting with other groups in the area, and getting involved at local colleges and universities.

Meetup Topics
Stop Genocide, Peace, Human Rights, Sudanese Peace

I hope we can attract others. I like the fact that Kristin has a vision for this becoming larger.

Attainable goals and thought provoking conversation made this a successful meeting!

My name is Chelsea and I just moved to Illinois. I live in Elgin and I would like to join if I can get a ride. I don't have a car. If I am able to attend, I will be great support. I have read a lot about the Holocaust and went to the Holocaust Museum

Together we can move mountains. As humans we can't continue to keep our eyes closed to genocide. We CAN make a difference.

I just started learning more about Africa. I've known about hardships and things they face down there but within this past year just learned about Sudan and everything going on. I feel like i can help, being younger.
